In the reign of Henry VIII St Denys was the only Parish in Cornwall with the prefix ‘Saint’. The Parish Church lies within an Iron Age hill fort 700 feet above sea level. Replacing an 11th century Norman church it was dedicated to St Dionisius (Dennis) before 1327. Carne Hill Methodist Church is not far away, and from here you can look across to the wind farms, which have become a feature of our Cornish countryside. Cornwall has long been at the cutting edge of technology as the ruins that once housed the great mine engines bear witness. There is a favourite Methodist Hymn that reminds us of our faith.

Our faithful unchangeable Friend; Whose love is as great as his power, And neither knows measure nor end.

‘Tis Jesus, the first and the last, Whose Spirit shall guide us safe home; We’ll praise him for all that is past,
And trust him for all that’s to come.
