Letter From Our Superintendent Minister Rev Stephen Caddick
I’m sure we were all thrilled yesterday to hear the news from the government that our churches are to be allowed to reopen from the 4th of July. This will have to be done in a safe and controlled manner and a number of requirements need to be met. We are still waiting for the exact guidelines from the government and recommendations from the Methodist church. As soon as this has been made clear we will contact each church and work with you to facilitate a safe return to our buildings. We are also planning to contact all our preachers and worship leaders to see how many are able to return to leading services at this time.
This has been a strange and difficult time for us all, especially those living alone. The experience has not been a totally negative one, many people have thought about faith for the first time. There are some amazing statistics regarding how many people have accessed Christian worship online. Let us hope and pray that some of these people will wish to continue their spiritual journey with us in our churches when we reopen. I pray that we will be ready for them. The last few weeks have given us all time to reflect on what is really important, things that can often be pushed out in the busyness of life.
I hope to continue the weekly bible study on line into the future as so many people have contacted me and said it has been a blessing to them. Maybe this can be used for group discussions as well as personal study when we are able to meet again.
We thank God that our prayers are being answered, that the virus would appear to be on the wane, and in many ways some aspects of life are beginning to get back to normal. More children have been able to return to school and we pray that they will all be able to return to school in September. More shops are opening and soon we’ll be able to get a much needed haircut! God has proved to be our strength and shield at this time, we trust Him and know that He works all things together for our good.
Please be assured that the circuit leadership team are working to ensure that we will be able to return to worshipping together in our buildings as soon as possible. The circuit meeting will be held via zoom on Tuesday 30th June we will hopefully know more by then. Please continue to pray for our nation and the government, for our churches and church leadership that we will be wise in all our decision making. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
God bless you all
