Built in 1864, hall and toilets added in the 1960’s and extensively refurbished in the 1990’s. Par St Mary’s Methodist Church serves the community of Par, in South East Cornwall, although our church family includes people from across a wide area. We have approximately 25-40 people attending each Sunday including a small number of children and young people. All our services are family friendly, with separate activities for children during part of the service most weeks, although occasionally we worship all together. The worship is led by members of the congregation, the minister and visiting local preachers.
Whilst the chapel looks traditional from the outside, it is a flexible worship space on the inside, with moveable furniture, chairs and a good heating system! We have up to date audio and visual facilities and the building is fully accessible; all our visitors talk about the warmth of welcome when they come in. Our attached hall is used for many community and church events as well as tea and coffee after the Sunday morning service and is available to hire.
The church mission statement is ‘Jesus: the heart of the community’ and we try to live this out through our programme of weekly activities, special events and involvement in various community activities such as Par carnival.
